HOW TO BE A NEW ENTREPRENEUR: 10 QUALITIES YOU MUST HAVE

By Avid A Solution | 30 May 2018 | Entrepreneur

Successful entrepreneurs have great stories. It gets ordinary people like myself excited about doing something important in my life.

I’m sure these entrepreneurs didn’t get to where they are today without having strong personalities that set them apart among average entrepreneurs.

Here in this post, I've listed what I believe the traits that aspiring entrepreneurs need to develop and acquire to weather through the storm in their journey.

10. Avid learner

New entrepreneurs do not have the budget to hire talents at the start of their business. Most likely, they have to learn everything on their own.

Taking the time to learn the fundamentals quickly while developing and growing a business will save you time and headache. When business decision needs to be made, you'll be ready.

9. Creative mindset

Creativity sets extraordinary and average entrepreneurs apart. Being creative is not limited to arts, design and writing.

When you're trying to develop and grow a business, you need to be creative in finding solutions to problems.

Whether it’s managing your budget, hiring talents and finding an investor, being creative at resolving these issues will save you time and headache.

8. Solution oriented

There will be a time when you're not happy with your current situation. As long as you acknowledge what makes you unhappy, you are more likely to pursue potential solutions.

For example, you are unhappy with the fact that you can't find customer. Look for ways to find customer as recommended by experts.

7. Opportunity seeker

An entrepreneur needs to always look for opportunities. In the beginning stage, you don't have capital lying around.

So you need to have an eagle eye and seek opportunity around you. Then decide if it's worth pursuing. For example, at every free seminar, opportunities await.

You can practice pitching your business ideas to strangers. No free activities is a waste. It's only a waste, if you attend the seminar with high expectation and no objectives.

6. Risk taker

Being an entrepreneur is all about taking risk. If you are scared to make any move, then entrepreneur as a career is not for you.

Making decision is scary and doing something different is even scarier. At the end of the day, a decision needs to be made.

Without taking risks and pushing the boundaries, you can never know what you are worth.

5. Resilient

You can never let negativeness effect your judgement. It’s hard to not let poor business decisions, money constraint and negative people effect you as a business leader.

But you have to learn to be resilient. It will toughen you up and build confident. Without resilient, you will never be able to weather through the storm.

4. Confident

Confident people always get what they want because they use their likable personality to their advantage.

As an entrepreneur, your confidence will encourage people to buy your product, interest an investor and motivate your employees to work.

When things get tough, you will not be afraid to make necessary decisions.

 3. Optimistic

When things aren't going your way, feeling hopeless will drive your business downward. Having a positive attitude will not only make you feel better, but it will help you see things differently.

Who knows, the challenges you’re facing may be your ticket way out of a dead-end.

2. Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm motivates you to weather through the storm. You’re team members will be more excited to work and put more effort in their work.

It’s the same with customers. People don’t buy a great product, they buy what the product makes them feel. If you can transfer your enthusiasm to your customers, they will more likely to buy from you.

1. Likable

Behind every successful entrepreneur, there is a great team. However, as a new entrepreneur with limited budget and resources, you can't go around and be like Steve Jobs or Elon Musk.

They are at the top of their industry which requires them be the authority of their company. You as a new fish in the sea, being nice to your staff, customers and investors will get you in the door faster.

Just don't be a push over, but do consider the feelings of others when you have to be the bad guy or girl.

Your employee is not going to stick around or be motivated to work for you if they called you a 'crazy boss’ behind your back.

Congratulations you're the BOSS

These are the top 10 traits that I believe sets successful and average entrepreneurs apart. It's based on my experience and research.

If you feel that this list does not portray what you believe a successful entrepreneur should be, I like to point out that this article is for someone who is new to business building, already have a small business but are not happy with their current situation.

Building a company and growing it is more than a number on a spread sheet.  I hope this article is helpful. If you're an aspiring entrepreneur, I suggest you create a list of what traits you’ve already have.

Keep the list by your side and look at it when you're feeling insecure.
